Hey Jen, This is the other Jordan "The Farmer" does it only happen when you are sending emails, and watching movies, or does it happen other times. Also where is the computer located when it does this.

That's what I was gonna say, and HI JORDAN QUICKEL!!! Wow it's been a while.

Jen, I was gonna say that if it's on your bed or someplace where the vents arent pretty much smothered, it'll overheat and shut down. Otherwise, take it to an apple store if you have one, like I did in Lille. That way you can fix the problem before it goes to an all-black screen like mine did! Oh, aren't mac's wonderful

PS Jen... you're awesome. Keep up the running. You motivate me! Have fun in Hokaido... hope there is snow for you. Doubtful with the weather you said

it happens at random. if i have it on a table or the floor (wood floor) and at first i thought it was bcause the heat would blow in the direction of the computer, so i moved it to the floor and it started happening again. the vents are open. could dust be an issue? its really dusty here? its not over heating!!! its cold here and it made it through the hot hot summer!

but jordan quickel reads my blog. yeah for the farmer!!

cara-hope your having fun in toulon with jt.

The random shut off is a known issue with the early model Macbooks. Check to see that all of your updates are current. I think there was a firmware update for it.
