recent happenings
ok so lets start. i retured to marseille on wednesday. wednesday morning i went to a bible study...in english and boy oh boy it was great to have it in english! haha. then my train left at 1:11. i got on the train and we left. about 30 min into the ride, the train stopped. ill give you 3 guesses to why it stopped.
1. the train broke down
2. we got lost
3. there was a strike involved.
if you guessed choice 3, you are right. so there was a student protest and from what i gather, they destroyed a signaling device for the railroad and so we couldnt continue. so we sat on the train. noone on noone off. the conductor came on and told us (after 30 min of nothing) that we would have about another hour of perturbations. then every few min he came on to tell us that we would have to take a different train, an autobus, etc. and then he would chang eit every few min. finally we got going, and about 20 min later, stand still again. haha. i ended up getting in at 7 ish. i was supposed to get in at 4:40.
but none of it shocked me. lets reflect back. the transportation strike, multiple teacher strikes, the recent student protests these past 2 weeks... and now my train is stopped. the weird thing is, that it doesnt really bother me. i just expect it now. i dont like it, but i deal with it.
so i got home to rachel (raquel is out of town for a few days) and we decided to watch a movie. we watched first daughter. it was a grea great great movie....until the end. i dont know about others, but i choose to watch chick flicks becuase i like the predictibility of knowing that the boy and girl will get togehter in the end. WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO CHANGE THAT???? so really stinkin disappointed at midnight last ngiht, rach and i realized we would have to watch another movie. one that we knew would have a good ending. so we watched the prince and me. (if anyone would like to send a good chick flick to us...with a good ending, please feel free ((chez howe 64 cours gouffe 13006 marseille france)))
sometimes i am shocked by what some people think of americans. you know how us americans run around with guns, shooting one another, pratically naked and drinking a diet coke from mcdonalds. i dont know how many people i have shocked when i said "no i dont drink coke" or "i dont remember the last time ive had mcdonalds in the US" but then again, how can i blame them. their vision of the US is made up of the news, mtv and american movies.
so today i went to the familys house of one of the english teachers at my school. we ate a ton (like usual...i hope you all like a chubster jen eureka) then we went to cassis. its a small town less than 30 min away and we went on the biggest seaside cliff in europe or something like that. then we went to the actual town and it was so cute and quaint. i got home around 8 and rach and i watched run away bride. good times good times.
sat afternoon i am getting a special visit from a special dana sanders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah for dana coming to visit me for 3 days!
here is my list of horrible movies. movies so horrible i will never watch again.
1. first daughter
2. of love and war
